Organisational Design

Organisation design is the review of what an organisation wants and needs, an analysis of the gap between its current state and where it wants to be in future, and the design of organisational practices that will bridge that gap. It is a fundamental, wide reaching, future-focused activity that often requires a review of the entire organisation and its context to decide what does and doesn’t work. Organisational Development

A systematic approach to drive business performance. CIPD define it as “a planned and systematic approach to enabling sustained organisational performance through the involvement of its people”. Because the way that organisations operate in a constantly changing environment; externally (where markets change, new competitors emerge, and technology evolves) and internally (where people come and go, cultures evolve, and leadership agendas change) organisations often find that the practices they have used historically that used to perform well, no longer work as well as they did - they need adjusting to maximise their impact on the organisation achieving its goals. Job Evaluation

Job Evaluation is a well-established tool used by many organisations to assist in developing a fair and consistent internal hierarchy of jobs which can then be used as a basis for a grading/salary structure.

Linenhall Consulting partners are fully trained and experienced on several proprietary job evaluation schemes, including the Greater London Provincial Council Scheme (GLPC) which has been used in many local authorities, public and voluntary organisations as well as within the private sector. The GLPC Scheme is a tried and tested core job evaluation scheme and Linenhall Consulting can adapt the scheme implementation as appropriate to each organisation.

The Scheme has been endorsed by the major Trade Unions and our Partners have experience of training many Trade Union representatives on the application of the Scheme and have vast experience in dealing with them during job evaluation appeals.

We have experience of carrying out both desktop and interviewed job evaluations, as well as conducting Pay and Grading reviews for many public, private and voluntary sectors throughout Northern Ireland. We believe that Pay and Grading Reviews are central to the objective of modernising pay structures and removing discrimination in pay and conditions of service. The GLPC Scheme has been used as a defence against equal pay claims.

Business Process Improvement

Business Process improvement (BPI) is a critical part of improving operations in any organisation – and in any function. By identifying those processes that are in most need of improvement, we can significantly increase the speed at which a company operates and greatly reduce its costs.

BPI involves analysing and improving existing business processes in the pursuit of optimised performance. The goals are typically to continuously reduce costs, minimise errors, eliminate waste, improve productivity, and streamline activities. As we continue to deal with the pandemic and its economic aftermath, most organisations will prioritise BPI initiatives. This is true for a few reasons. First, BPI is one of the most common and effective ways of reducing costs.
